The Physical (Real) and Metaphysical (Imagined)

There exists the hard reality of the physical universe defined as all of space and time (collectively referred to as spacetime) and their contents. Such contents comprise all of energy in its various forms, including electromagnetic radiation and matter, and therefore planets, moons, stars, galaxies, and the contents of intergalactic space.  en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universe Closer to home it is the Earth and everything on or in it – namely rocks, soil, water in oceans, rivers and lakes, the living things like plants, bacteria, animals etc.

Metaphysics seeks to find if there is any reality beyond our universe and whether there is any creator… a continuum from physics that relates us to may unresolved concepts of our universe. It probes the whole of reality, not just the physical part that is observable and quantifiable. So, it talks not just about simple reality but also unconditioned reality, infinite reality, intelligible reality and a spiritual reality.

Physical reality seems like what we can observe through our senses. Well not so!

For example, "familiar visible light makes up an absolutely minuscule fraction of all the information surrounding us. Most of the Universe is completely and utterly invisible.

we can talk about light being waves, or light being particles, and neither is incorrect... some kinds of invisible light behave more like waves, and some behave more like particles.

There is a fundamental, but little-appreciated, fact about the Universe: everything glows."

Instruments can observe what humans cannot.

Difference Between Physics and Metaphysics

·        Physics is the study of the observable and is thus restricted to what we have in our universe while metaphysics is a philosophical study of being and knowing.

·        Metaphysics begins where physics ends.

·        Many of metaphysical concepts are today accepted as laws of physics since modern physics is not just Newtonian physics but has advanced to quantum physics.

·        Metaphysics is close to spirituality though it not religion.

·        Physics explains only what can be used using our knowledge base while metaphysics goes beyond our present knowledge.

·        It may be said that physics is fact and metaphysics is imagination.

Religion, myths and really all stories are metaphysical. As previously stated, laws, nations, corporations, are creations of the mind. For practical purposes they ARE REAL in our world. They affect how we relate to the world and go about our business. Ignoring speeding laws has no consequences unless a police officer sees it and a punishment follows. However, in absence of police excessive speed could contribute to a crash and negative consequences.

Humans have imagination and supposing how thing could be may spark a series of events that can change the future reality. An example is any change of authority is often preceded by an imagined reality that could take place. Any coup, revolution, voted law change, etc. are all manifestations. Through a series of events Rome morphed from a Republic to an empire with an emperor. The Prophet Mohammed writing the Koran gave rise to Islam. The US revolution created the United States and representative government. The French Revolution ended the “ancien regime”. In the UK voting for Brexit took the UK out of the European Union and is changing the path the UK was on. In short, whatever story that can be imagined can BECOME a metaphysical reality. The difference is metaphysical reality is a function of the human mind and choice.

Switzerland originates from the Old Swiss Confederacy established in the Late Middle Ages, following a series of military successes against Austria and Burgundy; the Federal Charter of 1291 is considered the country's founding document. Swiss independence from the Holy Roman Empire was formally recognized in the Peace of Westphalia in 1648. Switzerland has maintained a policy of armed neutrality since the 16th century and has not fought an international war since 1815

It has four main linguistic and cultural regions: German, French, Italian and Romansh. Although most Swiss are German-speaking, national identity is fairly cohesive, being rooted in a common historical background, shared values such as federalism and direct democracy, and Alpine symbolism. Swiss identity transcends language, ethnicity, and religion, leading to Switzerland being described as a Willensnation ("nation of volition") rather than a nation state.

Switzerland - Wikipedia

The Swiss experiment was unlike its neighbors in that was not based on language, ethnicity, and religion, or didn’t have a “lord’s anointed” king like almost all of Europe and it has survived to the present. The Swiss created and maintained a unique metaphysical reality that is now more common in the world. (Venice, Genoa and the Netherlands also have histories of democracy.) The point is humans experimented with many forms of government with different goals. The key as always, is to survive otherwise that reality disappears. Metaphysics requires thought and imagination to exist otherwise metaphysics does not exist.

Metaphysics is human created reality and humans can change it.
