“Were I to await perfection, my book would never be finished.”
Tai T’ung (p. ix) Quote from The Story of Civilization
Why read this blog? Humans wander through life without knowing what life is all about.
This will provide Some Rules of Life (SRoL).
Rules exist. They govern our existence. Ignore gravity on the Earth and the consequences of jumping a great distance without devices to offset gravity will have a severe NEGATIVE outcome. This blog will NOT tell you “don’t jump off cliffs.” Instead, this blog will tell you gravity exists. It is up to you to decide what to do with it.
The list will be individual rules that are based on as close to fact as possible. Readers, if they exist, will likely have issues with some of the rules. Hopefully, a discussion will be able to take place and the blog will move forward to a resolution of profound meaning.
Philosophers have stated that humans are limited by our senses as to how we interpret the universe. This includes our most sophisticated instruments to enhance our senses. May I suggest humans are limited by the way they classify observations. Broadly speaking they fall into
1) Beliefs - based on our stories
2) Rationality - based on observable, testable, conclusions related to FACT.
Rules will be clustered on a page that broadly describes them, such as Physical Reality and Existence, Human Existence, Further Exploration Guides, and so forth.
It will NOT be perfect or likely ever complete, but it is a start. It is a work in progress.
How is this going to work?
·
There will be regular presentation topics, hopefully, brief and
to the point.
·
The presentations may be based or largely taken from other
sources. To make this readable, references will be made to the source
material, but not in a scholarly (APA) format.
·
There will be the written word, pictures, graphs, and whatever
else is useful to get the points across.
·
Revisions will take place to improve clarity, entertainment
value (one has to enjoy reviewing the material), including insightful or
valuable critical comments or questions.
·
Comments from the reader are encouraged. Brevity is appreciated.
Comments will be monitored and may be deleted for a perceived lack of relevance
or if they are offensive.
·
There will be Further Exploration Guides for more in-depth
consideration.
